French wind farm Saint-Pierre-de-Juillers sold to NTR

BayWa r.e. announced the sale of the 10.2 MW Saint-Pierre-de-Juillers wind farm to sustainable infrastructure investor and asset manager, NTR.

The project is located between Angoulême and Niort in the Département Charente-Maritime. The wind park comprises of five 2.05 MW Senvion turbines and has a height of 125 m. 

“We are very pleased about the successful completion of this important project”, comments Can Nalbantoglu, Managing Director of BayWa r.e. France SAS, with responsibility for the French wind project business. „In the last ten years we succeeded in fostering the development of the project and building trust within the local community. Since 2006 we have now been operating in the Poitou-Charentes region, having already realized 6 wind and solar parks and there are more to come.”

Axel Veeser, Head of Wind Energy Projects at BayWa r.e. states: “France continues to be an important market for us, especially following the recent release of the multiyear programme (PPE) for energy investments in France. As a result, we continue to significantly strengthen our local teams and are now present in Paris, Bordeaux and most recently Nantes”.

Said Manus O’Donnell, Chief Investment Officer of NTR; “This acquisition is a strong demonstration of our intent to be an active participant in the rapidly growing French wind and solar market. We are very pleased to enter the market in partnership with BayWa r.e., a leading international developer, and intend to further expand our French presence.“

The annual production of the wind farm is approximately 25 GWh which is roughly the same electricity consumption of over 7,000 households. The park is actively contributing to the objectives of the French Energy Transition Act (2015) to increase the share of renewable energy to 40 percent by 2030.
