Carrying out regulatory surveys

A renewable energy project requires conducting environmental, landscape, ecological, and, for wind energy, acoustic surveys. These studies are carried out by independent survey offices. The environmental survey is conducted at the start of the project, as it determines the project's feasibility. All the studies, technical details of the project, and its history make up the authorisation request file, which is available for public review during the consultation phase.

Obtaining the authorisations

Once the authorisation request file has been submitted to the relevant state authorities, they will review it in detail and seek feedback from the local community through a public consultation process. Following this, the prefect of the department can either authorise or reject the project.

Commissioning and operation

Once the farm has been constructed and connected to the grid, the first electricity is injected, marking the official launch of the farm. At BayWa r.e., our team of technicians and operations engineers oversee the maintenance and optimisation of asset management. With a dozen maintenance bases across France, we ensure the responsiveness and efficiency of our interventions.

Dismantling of the farm and reinstatement of the site

At the end of its life, a wind or solar farm is dismantled, and the site is reinstated to its original condition. The dismantling of a farm is strictly regulated by law.

Repowering solution to improve the farm's performance

Our teams have the expertise to manage and coordinate wind and solar farms from their inception through to dismantling and renewal. Today, the first renewable energy farms have been in operation for 20 to 25 years. However, their lifespan can be extended through revamping or repowering, which enables more efficient operation of wind farms without the need for additional land. Thanks to technological advancements, it is now possible to use more efficient and modern turbines and panels.
