Improving the performance and efficiency of your solar farms
Is your solar farm nearing the end of its operational life, or do its components have security or performance issues? Are you a solar plant operator with feedback and concerns about the profitability or performance of your facilities?
BayWa r.e. supports you in revamping or repowering your solar farm to enhance its performance and increase renewable energy production.
Solar revamping or repowering: Definition
Solar revamping is a modernisation solution for existing solar plants under power purchase agreements, designed to maintain equivalent energy production capacity. Revamping involves replacing components of solar plants that no longer meet production needs or where standards have evolved. This may include updating elements such as inverters or photovoltaic modules to ensure the plant remains compliant and efficient.
Thus, through revamping, it is possible to achieve the same power output while using less land. This action allows for the consideration of a solar repowering solution by installing a new solar plant on the newly available land. In practice, repowering differs from revamping as it involves increasing power output by installing additional assets on the site.

BayWa r.e. is committed to recycling and repurposing solar panels
As solar photovoltaic energy production increases, recycling and repurposing panels have become top priorities. Many companies have developed technologies that enable the repurposing of up to 95% of the raw materials from used panels.
BayWa r.e. actively participates in the recycling and repurposing of photovoltaic modules as part of its solar revamping projects, working directly with manufacturers or in collaboration with specialised companies.
It is also possible to give these panels a second life and reintroduce them to the market, provided they are not damaged and pass safety inspections.
